A series of winter storms is expected to bring widespread snowfall and strong winds across the Great Lakes, Northeast, and even parts of the Deep South. New England is forecast to remain cold enough for snow until Saturday, with a coastal wave potentially bringing rain that transitions to snow along the I-95 corridor and into coastal New England by Sunday.

Persistent cold air over the Great Lakes will sustain lake effect snow, particularly impacting areas near Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, and the Eastern Lake snow belts. Significant snow accumulation is anticipated in these regions through Monday.

We'll talk about that in a second, but all this comes south over the Great Lakes through Appalachia, even into the deep south. New England, you'll be cold enough this time for some snow until Saturday when this coastal wave develops and we may get some rain on the I-95 corridor kind of transitioning on over to snow, and Sunday that's that southern event kind of sneaking up into coastal New England. Cold air over the Great Lakes for the foreseeable future means we're going to have a lake effect somewhere, and it's going to pile up near the Great Lakes. Just through Monday, you'll notice it's the Lake Superior, the Lake Michigan, and the Eastern Lake snow belts that do the best with this.
