Following the incident, Israeli forces surrounded villages in the West Bank, believed to be the origin of the attackers, and began a new military offensive in Gaza. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that such attacks would not deter Israel's objectives. The ongoing conflict has left many Gazan families homeless, with further escalation expected unless Hamas releases Israeli hostages and surrenders.

But it did praise what it called a heroic operation by two Palestinian resistance fighters. At the scene, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, These attacks don't deter us. They only increase our determination to complete our missions. Almost immediately, Israeli soldiers began surrounding villages in the West Bank, where the government said the gunmen had come from. While in Gaza, the military has begun a new offensive. Destroying high-rise apartment buildings it says were hideouts for Hamas. Fifty of them over the last two days, according to the Prime Minister. Part of a push to take Gaza City. An operation which has already left even more Gazan families homeless and bereft after almost two years of war and no end in sight. And the violence is about to escalate. Prime Minister Netanyahu warned Gazans to get out of Gaza City as the military prepares to step up its operations from the air and on the ground, unless Hamas releases the remaining Israeli hostages and surrenders.
