Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine still won't endorse a successor, having consistently said that there is plenty of time for more candidates to get into the race. With more than a year until the midterms, that is already ringing true for the Democratic Party.

Ohio's upcoming gubernatorial race is drawing early attention, with significant fundraising and candidate announcements from both major parties. Democratic candidate Dr. Amy Acton has broken early fundraising records, while former Congressman Tim Ryan is considering a run. On the Republican side, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy has secured party and former President Donald Trump's endorsements, but not that of current Governor Mike DeWine. 

Governor DeWine has stated he will support the eventual Republican nominee but has declined to endorse any candidate at this stage. Lieutenant Governor Jim Trestle is also considering entering the race, with candidates having until early February to declare their intentions.

The clock is ticking. This race really kind of started early. Millions of dollars have already poured into the race to succeed Ohio Governor Mike DeWine out of the gate. The doctor from Youngstown has already broken fundraising records for a Democratic candidate this early with $1.4 million and she says bipartisanship will be key to her campaign. I will always be focused on on Ohioans and whatever it takes to move them forward and solve the issues that affect our everyday lives. But now that former U. S. Senator Sherrod Brown is expected to run for Senate, former Congressman Tim Ryan spokesperson says it has renewed and heightened his interest in running for governor to further serve the people of Ohio. I would love nothing more than for the Democratic side to have a competitive primary with multiple candidates because we have unprecedented unity on the Republican side. Republican Vivek Ramaswamy got an early endorsement from his party. I'm in this to unite everybody in the state of Ohio around a vision of economic growth. The Cincinnati businessman also won President Donald Trump's endorsement, but not from the top executive in Ohio. When are you going to make an announcement on your endorsement for governor? Are you still waiting for the lieutenant governor to get into the race? Oh, there'll be ample time. I mean, we're still a long ways away. DeWine has continued to promote the work of Lieutenant Governor Jim Trestle, who says he's considering a run. I caught up with Trestle at a business event in early August. Vivek Ramaswamy has raised nearly $10 million from donors for his gubernatorial run. Do you think you can raise a similar amount? And do you think that your name I. D. Can carry you? Well, I haven't raised any money. So, you know, that's that's uh, and I've been busy at things like this because I see you guys all the time. So, you know, today is Amazon and it became Intel, but it's not Jim Trestle's future in this world. Is Jim Trestle's future a gubernatorial run? That's not the discussion today. But one thing's for sure about the DeWine endorsement. I'm the governor of the state Republican governor. I'm gonna support the Republican nominee for governor and other statewide offices.
