Police stated that officers were assisting Veterans Affairs social workers when they encountered an individual who brandished a firearm, prompting the officer to fire.

Interim Chief Adam Henny confirmed that all officers involved were unharmed. Few details have been released about the individual or the events leading up to the shooting, and police have indicated that further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.

You just heard the moment Cincinnati police say a welfare check took a violent turn at her by police. That's what it happened in Madisonville Tuesday at this home on Haley Avenue. Interim chief Adam Henny tells us officers were assisting V. A. Social workers at around two p.m. When at some point they made contact with an individual that brandished a firearm and shots were fired by police. Henny says that person was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. But Henny did not say who that person was or if they were the only one in the home. All officers. Okay. Yes, all officers. Okay. That was the only question. Henny allowed. He spoke to us for less than a minute sharing few details about what led up to the shooting. But it was a busy scene. Officers taped off a wide perimeter around the home while investigators spent hours working the scene focusing heavily on the back deck. I tried speaking with neighbors. Those who answered their doors didn't want to go on camera. But some told me an elderly man lives in this home. They say he uses a walker to get around and they described him as quiet but friendly. As for what happened here, police tell us we should expect an update sometime on Wednesday in Madisonville, Valerie Lyons, W. C. P. O. Nine News.
