Nigeria continues to grapple with a widespread security crisis that's seen a plethora of armed groups carry out mass abductions, robberies and killings in remote communities. The problem recently came under renewed scrutiny after Donald Trump warned of a potential military intervention to protect Christian communities. But for these protesters, Nigeria's national security should remain a domestic issue. It is stated in the bourgeois constitution of Nigeria that the welfare and security of the people shall be the primary purpose of government. This is not a matter that requires foreign intervention. Easier said than done for Nigerian authorities, which are facing battles on multiple fronts, including several jihadist insurgencies in the north and the west, separatist groups in the south, and swathes of bandits and criminal gangs.
