Weather models indicate that a low pressure system moving out of the West will bring snow to a broad area stretching from North Platte through Des Moines to Chicago, with Saint Louis and Kansas City likely to see a mix of rain and snow. The heaviest snow is expected to fall north of the low, with some locations potentially receiving up to half a foot or more, while other areas may see only a dusting.

Both the European and GFS weather models show similar predictions, with a heavy snow band likely to affect Des Moines, Chicago, and possibly Detroit. Travelers returning after Thanksgiving, particularly on Sunday and Monday, should be prepared for widespread snow and potential travel disruptions.

However, North Platte to Des Moines to Chicago snow filled for you. I know it shows snow in Saint Louis, so that would be maybe nice for some of you to see in the gateway to the West. Here's a look at the European model. OK, what we're going to do is we're going to kind of notice the energy coming out of the West, and we're going to watch the placement of our low pressure system once it gets into Missouri. Notice places like Kansas City and Saint Louis might get rain transitioning to snow. OK, areas on the north side of it all snow, and it could be heavy snow for you. And overall, it'll eventually transition to snow, you know, once you get the cold air in place. But by that time, the moisture is already heading out of here. So for some of you, maybe just a dusting. Others, a couple of inches. Some locations, maybe half a foot or more, and I'll show you the totals in a moment. The GFS is kind of aligning into more of a similar approach here as well. When you take a look at how that energy, once it comes out of the West, we've got that low yet again in Missouri with that snow on the north side, yet again looking at places like Kansas City and Saint Louis that could go back and forth between rain and snowfall. But, you know, that heavy band is definitely going to set up probably around Des Moines into Chicago. Detroit even can see it. The European and the GFS put that large purple color in a lot of these areas, which is a little bit farther to the south, Kelly. And that means coming home Sunday, Monday, this could be snow filled for so many of us.
