Davis, who was already on bail for a separate matter, was denied bail again after his arrest. Authorities highlighted a rise in harassment of politicians and reiterated their commitment to protecting public officials and taking action against extremist groups.

He's charged with using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence. There's no such thing as a part-time neo-Nazi. That type of vile hate speech online is just intolerable and the New South Wales police do not tolerate it. We will make sure that she has the protection she needs around her, absolutely. Federal police say there's been a troubling rise in the harassment of politicians. Also arrested this week, a 29-year-old Tamworth man accused of making online threats to the Prime Minister. AFP officers seized a gel blaster rifle and ammunition from his home.
