A few minutes after the helicopter soared into the sky, we started to get a glimpse of the scale of the devastation. Entire villages wiped out, desperate villagers waving to the aircraft, asking for help. The pilot carefully maneuvering the Chinook through the deep ravine, strong winds could compromise the entire rescue operation. The crew is looking for the right spot to airdrop supplies. It's heartbreaking the massive destruction that you see as you fly over the epicenter and the devastated areas. The pilot has decided it's extremely risky to land in this particular area and he has given orders to start airdropping humanitarian aid, supplies, blankets to the affected local communities. The army helicopters hovering around the area are the only chance for those trapped in desolate villages on the peaks of the Atlas Mountains. We landed in Tlatel Yaakoub, where rescue teams continue their search, but as the hours go by, chances of finding survivors fade away. Our teams are operating non-stop, we're following all safety measures, we have sniffer dogs and cameras to detect people trapped under the rubble. Those who were pulled alive will start a long journey of recovery. Fatimah Ahmed was rescued from the village of Okoun. She's been traumatized by what she went through. After what I saw and the people who lost their lives, I cannot think about tomorrow. It's sad. We live in a remote area where access is difficult. The wounded are rushed to hospitals in Marrakech. Colonel Ismail Al-Alawi is concerned about someone. This patient has been trapped for three days and he risks having kidney failure. He needs a blood test, most likely he will need dialysis. Al-Jazeera was given a rare access to the army's operations center where it plans its emergency response.
