It was magical. She made history back in 2015 when she became the first black woman to be promoted to that role in the company. So the stars came out at New York's Lincoln Center last night to celebrate Copeland and her amazing career. We got to speak to her ahead of her farewell performance. Do you have a moment, and your career has been very vast, that stands out to you that you go, I will never forget the time when? You know, I must say, I think it was the Firebird. You know, I was still a soloist, and it was a really big deal for me as a black woman to be performing this role. But I remember just knowing that the audience had completely shifted and changed that night. And seeing young and old and black and brown and everything in between step into the theater because they felt that they could be in there, that they were represented. They saw themselves. And that was a real shift in my career. I think it was a real shift in where we are in the ballet world today. And it happened that night. We will have much more of that broadcast-exclusive interview with Misty Copeland tomorrow on CBS Mornings, but I can't. It's a great shot. It is. It's really nice. I can't say enough about last night. But please show some of the video from last night. Misty Copeland has been gone for five years because of COVID. She had a baby. And then, so this was her first performance and her last performance. Oprah was the honorary chairperson last night. It's a lot to get Oprah out of the house. She came and flew in just for this. That's her little son, Jackson. He's 3 and 1⁄2, the first and last time he sees his mom on a stage. That was really something. Oprah said this, when Misty became the first black female principal dancer in the American Ballet Theater, 75-year history, it wasn't just a milestone. It was a mirror held up to generations who had never seen themselves reflected in the center of the frame. Little exclamation point. Isn't that good? It's excellent. It's beautiful. And so we'll have more tomorrow. We sat down with her. Can't wait for it. She was so good.
