This week, the Milwaukee Public Museum is welcoming guests to the museum with educators stationed throughout the museum floor, offering hands-on learning during one of the busiest times of the year. Visitors will get the rare opportunity to not only learn about prehistoric cold-weather animals and modern-day cold-weather animals, but they can actually touch reproductions of mammoth and mastodon teeth. While traditional school field trips aren't scheduled during the holiday break, museum educators are out on the exhibit floors, answering questions, sharing demonstrations, and helping kids, and even adults, explore science, history, and culture in a more informal way. What was cool about having the educators out here today? The mammoth tooth, so it's like one big mammoth tooth. And until the end of January, the streets of Old Milwaukee are decorated for the holidays. Streets of Old Milwaukee and the European Village both have holiday decorations up, and they are reflective of what holiday decorations would have looked like back at the turn of the 20th century. The museum's goal is to meet families where they are during winter break, turning casual visits into a learning experience, while also capturing the spirit of the season.
