A man was found floating near the shore by the Coney Island Boardwalk in Brighton Beach. Witnesses spotted him in the water early in the morning and called for help, prompting a response from emergency services. 

The man was pulled from the water and life-saving measures were performed on the boardwalk before he was taken to Coney Island Hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead. Police are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the incident.

He was in the water here, but out here on the sand. Red flags are up, which means no swimming. The N. Y. P. D. Tells us the call came in around 7 25 this morning. Witnesses saw a man floating between these rocks and called for help. One maintenance worker who didn't want to go on camera told me a man who had been fishing was actually the first to spot him. He alerted security and then the F. D. N. Y. Rushed in. The person was pulled out the water and E. M. S. Started life saving measures right on the boardwalk. He was taken by ambulance to Coney Island Hospital in critical condition. And right now, police are working to figure out how that person ended up in the water here.
