The aftermath of the floods has seen bulldozers and construction workers flooding into the streets to begin the rebuilding process. Key infrastructure such as buildings and roads that were destroyed or damaged are now seeing signs of repair and reconstruction. Despite the progress in physical rebuilding, the emotional toll on Derna's residents remains profound. Yamna al-Shehibi, a 70-year resident of Derna, recounted the loss of her son and his family in the floods, describing it as the worst disaster she has ever witnessed.

An international report involving contributions from the World Bank, United Nations, and European Union has quantified the extensive damage inflicted upon Derna. More than 18,000 homes were reported as either destroyed or damaged by the flooding, and about 1.5 million people, which accounts for 22% of Libya's population, were affected. The report estimates the cost of recovery and reconstruction to exceed $1.8 billion.
