Hurricane Kiko remains a Category 4 Hurricane but will move into cooler waters over the weekend and weaken as it approaches Hawaii. It is still too far out to say for certain if impacts like rain or wind will occur.

Hurricane Kiko, with sustained winds of 140 miles per hour, is currently classified as a Category 4 hurricane and is tracking west-northwest at approximately 10 miles per hour. Forecast models indicate that the center of Kiko will likely pass just north of Hawaii, but the storm's wide reach means the islands could still experience significant effects.

Meteorologists expect Kiko to weaken as it moves into cooler waters and encounters increased wind shear. Despite this, Hawaii may still be impacted by strong winds, high surf, and possible coastal erosion. Flight disruptions and hazardous conditions are also possible as the storm approaches.

Kiko tracking further north but could still graze Hawaii

It's Kiko with winds of 140 miles per hour. Category 4 nature hurricane. Obviously you see the pressure and it's moving in West Northwest around 10 miles per hour. Now the storm of this magnitude in nature it's very hard, very difficult for something like this to maintain this kind of power, and we do anticipate there will be some fluctuations and eventual weakening in the system for a variety of reasons. One this will be moving into an area with slightly cooler water, but sheer could also play a part too. So those both work in the favor. If you happen to be in Hawaii, which is right there and then you see all the islands, all the models, all the prognostications for now have the center of this moving just north of it. Remember, though, this is got really wide stretched arm, so if you happen to be in places like say Hawaii or Hilo Honolulu proper, say Kauai, all locations that will have some kind of effect in terms of the stronger winds wave action is going to be ridiculous at times, especially Wyoming Bay by Tuesday. Again, we anticipate it will be a tropical storm by that point, maybe even less, but we will have some effects of it along the islands. I'd say erosion certainly possible, but yeah, it's going to be quite rough and flying around this. I'm sure flights will be hampered in a tremendous way, but some of these guys easily approaching 40 maybe 50 miles an hour.
