The official highlighted that Egypt has deployed more forces than permitted, expanded port facilities, and extended airport runways, all of which are considered violations of the agreement.

Israel has communicated its concerns to both Egypt and the United States, emphasizing the importance of upholding the peace treaty. While Israel had previously overlooked these activities due to Egypt's fight against extremist groups in Sinai, the official now says such breaches will no longer be tolerated and calls for immediate rectification.

But that, in recent years, is not the case. We're hearing from this official who tells us Egypt is militarizing the Sinai Peninsula in what seems as a violation of the peace agreement, and he is specifying those violations. He says Egypt has deployed military forces beyond the permitted quota, expanded port docks, and extended runways at airports, all of these in violation of the agreement. Now, the Israelis are very clear in saying that Israel seeks to maintain the peace treaty and will not alter its deployment along the border. This official notes that the military activity in Sinai is expected to be restricted, but that is not the case. He says we will not accept these breaches. And so this Israeli official tells us we are in discussions with Cairo and the Americans. He says the U.S. administration is responsible for upholding the peace treaty, and it is imperative to rectify these violations and ensure the agreement is fully adhered to. And the official, therefore, says we have raised these concerns with our colleagues in Washington. So we should say that these violations have begun over 10 years ago, of course, when Egypt was dealing with sales of al-Qaeda and ISIS at the Sinai Peninsula. Israel until now has turned a blind eye to this military activity, but now we are hearing it clearly from this Israeli official, saying Israel will no longer tolerate those violations.
