There has been no official comment from the Israeli military, but media reports indicate clashes between Hamas fighters and Israeli troops, as well as injuries among Israeli soldiers following an explosion in Rafah. 

The Israeli prime minister left a cabinet meeting to hold security consultations in response to the incident. The Rafah border crossing remains closed, with Israeli authorities citing ongoing security concerns and the issue of returning the bodies of Israeli captives. The situation remains tense, with both sides yet to provide official accounts of the events.

Nur Adi joining us from Amman, because the Israeli government has banned Al Jazeera from reporting in Israel and the occupied West Bank. So what more are we learning about this attack in Rafah? Well, Darine, let me start with the latest, which is that the Israeli prime minister has left a meeting of the cabinet to hold security consultations about that incident. Now, what actually transpired in Rafah? According to Israeli media reports, and again, as you said, we have no official account from the Israeli army or from Hamas, but the reports talk about fierce clashes, armed clashes between Hamas fighters and the Israeli military. There are also reports about a detonation of an improvised explosive device that created damage and injured soldiers in Rafah. Now, the background to all of this is the presence of an armed militia that was working with the Israeli army during the war, really reviled by the Palestinians and possibly wanted by Hamas. The accusation is that Hamas is trying to encircle that area, possibly get to them. But again, we don't have official confirmation. What we do know is that there are clashes, there are possibly injuries among Israeli soldiers, and the rhetoric right now that we are hearing from Israeli politicians, from Israeli ministers and opposition leaders is that Hamas has breached the ceasefire and that there must be a swift response by Israel. Now, this, of course, is very convenient for some of the ministers in the Israeli government, certainly adding to the tension and the risks that the mediators have to deal with, but it's not all said and done because we still have to hear from all parties involved. Certainly, what is happening in Rafah is still a developing story, and we will keep you informed of all developments from the Israeli side. And, Noor, the border crossing there, that's the Rafah border crossing, we understand remains shut. Netanyahu's office had said that it will remain shut until further notice. Yeah. He made that announcement shortly after the Palestinian embassy to Cairo issued a statement, instructions to Palestinians who were stuck outside of Gaza and wanting to come home, to return to Gaza, telling them what they needed to do, what the procedure would be for their imminent return. Of course, Israel has been manipulating the issue of the crossings, the issue of the entry of humanitarian assistance, using that leverage, that absolute control over the crossings, including, crucially, the Rafah crossing, to apply pressure. And the issue of the bodies of Israeli captives has been used as the pretext, the fact that Hamas has been unable to return all of the bodies. The accusation from the Israeli prime minister's office that Hamas could be returning more bodies than it is right now, even though the UN officials and other experts and the mediators themselves have admitted that retrieving the bodies, finding them, locating them, is going to be very difficult first because of the millions of tons of rubble, Darin, but also because Israel, as we know, as we've seen now in the incident of Rafah, has still a control of over 50% of the Gaza Strip.
