They're focused on the first phase of the plan, a ceasefire giving Hamas 72 hours to release the 48 remaining hostages 20 of whom are believed to be still alive. Trump suggests the militant group is cooperating. And I think Hamas now has been all I can say is they've been fine. But Hamas says it needs more time to locate every hostage including remains buried under Gaza's rubble. Trust between the two sides is non-existent. Worsened since Israel bombed the Hamas delegation in Qatar less than a month ago. Missing top officials but killing the son of its chief negotiator. I do not differentiate between my sons and any Palestinian child killed in Gaza he told Qatari media over the weekend. But we ask that their blood be a path to victory. A path to Jerusalem. Words, Adrian, that Israeli negotiators aren't likely to find very reassuring. Sasha, you mentioned the potential timing of the hostage release but there are of course a lot of other sticking points. That's right and many of them have to do with timing and trust. Hamas worries that once all of the hostages are released Israel will do as it pleases. So it wants all Israeli troops pulled all the way out of Gaza or almost out before that release happens. Israel doesn't trust Hamas to disarm and to leave if its forces are no longer there to make sure that that happens. And in the long term Hamas wants guarantees that that path to a Palestinian state which is promised in these 20 points from Donald Trump that that will actually happen.
