The commission aims to collect videos, testimony, and firsthand accounts of reported misconduct, including the use of force against protesters and journalists.

Governor Pritzker stated that the decision was prompted by concerns over federal agents contravening protocols and laws, and a perceived lack of accountability within federal law enforcement. Chief Patrol Agent Greg Bovino confirmed that no agents involved in Operation Midway Blitz have been disciplined for use of force incidents to date. The governor emphasized the importance of holding federal agents accountable, citing inaction by Congress as a motivating factor.

Major, good to be with you. We are outside of the Broadview ICE detention facility. It has been really the focal point of many protests here in the suburbs of Chicago as Operation Midway Blitz continues. And Operation CBS News Learn Today has included more than 2,700 arrests to date. We spoke exclusively with Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, who told us he is launching the Illinois Accountability Commission in order to hold accountable federal law enforcement and leaders within the Department of Homeland Security. Take a listen. Why collect videos, testimony, firsthand accounts of alleged abuses of federal agents? Well, what we're seeing is that the protocols, the rules around being a federal agent, the laws are being contravened. They are attacking people on the ground, ICE, CBP. They're going after people just because they're brown or black. No one above them is holding them responsible. Greg Bovino, who is running the operation in Chicago, is not holding any of them accountable. So we're going to have to keep a record, because these people need to be held accountable, and they will be when the Congress changes hands, when the presidency changes hands. And Major, we actually spoke with Chief Patrol Agent Greg Bovino, who confirmed what the governor told us there, which is that no CBP agents part of Operation Midway Blitz have been disciplined so far for use of force incidents. The governor also said no one is above the law. And part of the reason he decided to launch this probe was because he feels that Congress has done nothing.
