Dr. King left a personal note in Booth's book, encouraging him toward a great future, which Booth says inspired his lifelong dedication to civil rights work, including leading the local NAACP.

Dr. King's visits to Cincinnati included speaking at the Progressive National Baptist Convention, supporting local political campaigns, and promoting voter registration. Booth credits King's teachings and example as foundational to his own leadership and says King's message of prayer and activism remains relevant.

I had him sign that book personally. He wrote to Paul, for whom I wish a great future, Martin Luther King Jr. Today, that signature is just more than ink on a page. It's a promise he's carried into adulthood to lead with courage, compassion and service to others. All of my civil rights work, being president of the NAACP here and leading other organizations, his life and his teachings were interwoven. Dr. King made several stops across Cincinnati. Booth remembers when he spoke during the Progressive National Baptist Convention about humanitarian issues at the Netherland Hilton Hotel. My father founded the Progressive National Baptist Convention. It gave Dr. King a platform for the civil rights movement. He stopped by Cincinnati Gardens. He also visited the city to support Theodore Berry's City Council campaign and encourage voter registration. Booth says his message still resonates today.
