Her comments specifically referenced the political choices of residents in Kerr County, stating that those who voted to reduce FEMA funding and deny climate change should experience the consequences of their decisions. 

The post drew significant backlash, with public figures and commentators condemning the remarks as inappropriate and insensitive, especially in light of the ongoing tragedy affecting families in the region. The medical center where Dr. Probst was employed confirmed her dismissal in response to the controversy.

Your reaction to this devastation that we have seen there in the Hill Country? Well, obviously our thoughts and prayers are with the families that are affected. It's heartbreaking to see so many young people, especially who are out there doing wonderful things, many of them at a Christian camp, and their lives swept away. It's heartbreaking for so many families here in Texas and indeed around the country who had their children there or who knew people who had children there. It's just devastating. We are certainly seeing the best of the best coming out, Congressman, but also we're seeing the worst of the worst. I don't know if you heard the story out of Houston. This Texas pediatrician, Dr. Christina Probst, making headlines for a pretty disgusting thing she wrote on social media. Here's what she said. May all visitors, children, non-MAGA voters, and pets be safe and dry. Kerr County MAGA voted to gut FEMA. They deny climate change. May they get what they voted for. We understand the doctor has now been fired from the medical center that she was working at. Congressman, this is just really despicable language. It is, and especially in the light of both the tragedy that's happening with so many families and then the amazing heroics where you see Americans coming together, not concerned about what someone's political ideology is. They're just there to save lives, to rescue people, to help their fellow Texans. That's really what this country's supposed to be about, and so when you see a despicable story like this, it's just heartbreaking. It's certainly something we're not about as a country in moments like this. Well, certainly not. Congressman, we also have some breaking news out of McAllen, Texas. Earlier today, a gunman there ambushed border patrol agents at an annex building. We understand at least two police officers and a border patrol employee were injured. DHS releasing a statement on X. This morning, an individual opened fire at the entrance of the U.S. Border Patrol sector annex in McAllen. Both border patrol agents and local police helped neutralize the shooter. Congressman, this is not the first time that this has happened. A few days ago, another part of Texas, border patrol agents were targeted. How concerned are you about the rhetoric coming from the Democrat Party painting these border patrol and ICE agents as Gestapo? Oh, very much so. It's very concerning, and we've seen this year after year after year. We've seen them called Nazis. We've seen them, you know, and it's like, have you ever met a border patrol agent? You know, these people are good, hardworking people. During the crisis over the last few years, many of them would bring toys from their home to help out the kids while they could in dealing with the Biden crisis. Now it's sad to see as they're finally able to do their job, they have an administration supporting their mission, to see the left embrace such vitriol toward people who are doing their job to protect this country, to protect the communities and the families that are in our state here in Texas and around the country. You know that Axios report earlier this morning saying that they were talking to at least four members, four Democrats in the House of Representatives saying that the language needs to be tougher and that it needs to, you know, again, they're using language like get bloody, fight. I mean, this kind of rhetoric, Congressman, this is unacceptable. It is unacceptable, and it just, it's sad to see that coming from the left. You thought November would have been a turning point where maybe they opened up their eyes and kind of saw where the pulse of America is. It's not for open borders. It's not against law enforcement. It is indeed for law enforcement. We want law and order in our country. We want our communities to be safe. We want our kids to grow up with respect for those in uniform. This is not what we wanna see coming out of any member and holding any office in our country. So it's sad to see. Sadly, unexpected at this point, or expected at this point, I should say, from some of the members we see even in Congress. But, you know, we're gonna continue to promote those values that have held America together for centuries now, and make sure that we continue to pass on a better nation for our kids and our grandkids.
