A murder probe is underway after a 48-year-old woman was found dead inside a Taigum home, in Brisbane's north. A 52-year-old man, known to the victim - well-known nurse, Cara Luke - has been taken into custody.

Cara Luke, a respected nurse and mother, was found dead in her home in Taigum, Queensland. Police responded to the scene after family members discovered her body in her bedroom with significant injuries. Within 40 minutes, officers arrested a 52-year-old man at a separate location; he was known to the victim and has been declared a suspect. 

Authorities are investigating all possible angles, including domestic violence, and have spent time collecting security footage from the area. Cara Luke was remembered by neighbours for her kindness and dedication to her community. Police continue to search for answers as the investigation proceeds.

Family members inside the home located the woman in her bedroom. Appeared to have suffered significant injuries. Within 40 minutes of arriving on scene, police had pounced on a 52-year-old man. He was arrested at another home 20 minutes down the road at MacDow and formally taken into custody mid-morning, declared a suspect. He was known to Cara. We're investigating all angles, including domestic violence. Cara's neighbours telling us her personal life has been turbulent. Cara's body was found shortly after midnight, but 10 News understands detectives believe she may have already been dead for some time. Police have spent the day collecting security video for the seven hours before the grim find. Cara Luke was well-known as a local nurse. She loved getting to know her patients from birth to adulthood, and as detectives continued to examine her home today, SES personnel scoured nearby scrubland, but nothing was found.
