Severe monsoon floods have submerged large parts of southern Thailand, including the city of Hat Yai, with floodwaters reaching up to two metres. The region experienced the largest single-day rainfall in over 300 years, resulting in widespread destruction and affecting multiple provinces in both Thailand and neighbouring Malaysia.

Authorities report that more than two million people have been impacted, with rising displacement and death tolls. Rescue and relief operations are being hampered by the closure of highways and bridges, making access to hospitals and evacuation centres difficult for emergency workers.

Multiple provinces in Thailand and in neighbouring Malaysia have been hit, with displacement and death tolls rising. As the Thai military brings relief to the worst affected, the closure of highways and bridges is complicating rescue efforts. With more than two million people estimated to be affected, and access to hospitals and evacuation centres severely impacted, emergency workers face an enormous battle in the days ahead.
