Rescue teams in Uganda's Sebe region are continuing efforts to recover bodies after a mudslide that occurred earlier in the month. The Red Cross, leading the operation, reports that hopes of finding survivors are diminishing, with only two of the estimated nineteen bodies recovered so far. 

Heavy rains have slowed the search, despite the addition of army and police teams and the use of military equipment. The government has provided financial assistance to bereaved families, and hundreds of displaced survivors are currently staying in temporary shelters while awaiting relocation to safer areas.

Rescue teams are still digging through the rubble in Uganda's Sebe region in the hope of finding the bodies of people trapped by a mudslide earlier this month. The Red Cross, which is leading search and recovery efforts, says hopes of finding any survivors are fading. As we talk now, they're using our military tools, so we see that there is still some need of more manpower. Because if people are saying that about 19 bodies are covered and you have so far only recovered two, that leaves you with about 17 that have not yet been retrieved from here. But what we can commit, of course together with our, under the coordination of the Prime Minister, that we shall do whatever it takes to see that we try to recover the bodies of the families that were covered here. Additional teams and equipment from the army and police have joined the operations, but heavy rains are slowing down rescue efforts. The government has offered about 1,500 U.S. dollars to each bereaved family to help with burial arrangements. Hundreds of survivors who lost their homes are now sheltering in temporary centers as they wait to be moved to safer ground.
