However, the lack of barriers around a water feature at the statue's base has led to several incidents of visitors accidentally falling in, with these occurrences widely shared on social media.

Keep your distance and take the time to wander around what is now the world's largest museum dedicated to ancient Egypt. Opened in November, it has 80 galleries spread over several floors, the most popular of which is dedicated to the young king Tutankhamun. Here, there's no risk of getting wet and the only thing you'll soak up is history surrounded by crowds, complete with a view of the desert and the pyramids.
