What does Coco Gauff need to do to give her the best chance of going into the US Open? It's an interesting time for Gauff because everything, all her dreams kind of came true in Paris at Roland-Garros. Being able to win a second major. She knows how to win Grand Slams now. She's proven that. She's going to be the favourite in New York going in, at least from the fans' side. And she just needs to kind of handle that pressure and be consistent and kind of see where that leads. How would you sum up, if you had to describe Coco's year as a whole, where she won her second career Grand Slam title in Paris, how would you sum it all up thus far? If you were to look back and you're a top player and you look back on your year at a whole and you even just say, oh, I won one Grand Slam, you take that as a win. There's certain players where it becomes all about winning the majors and it becomes all about kind of increasing that tally. That's certainly the case for Gauff. She wants to go down as having probably double-digit Grand Slam titles. She was stuck on one for a couple of years. Now she's at two. Well, before winning the French Open, Coco actually filled up a sheet of paper writing, I will win French Open 2025. How important is it to be in the right mindset to win at the very highest level of a sport? More so in this sport, I believe, than in any other sport or certainly in the individual You have to have that belief and you have to be the one that backs yourself time and time again. The media isn't always going to be on your side or think you're going to win or think you're the greatest. It's up to you and those people closest to your team to really give you that belief that you can do it. Coco didn't go into Roland-Garros. She was playing great tennis. She wasn't winning the tournaments that she wanted to win, but she had that belief that when the time came she was going to be able to elevate her game and be able to hold that trophy again. That was a remarkable scene and looking at those kind of handwritten notes that I will do this, I will do that, it seemed like she almost kind of willed it to happen. And a lot of times the top players don't give an insight to their mental training. You might see them physically training, you might see them hitting balls, but it's kind of a secret in this sport about how to kind of unlock those pressures and have that confidence. I love that Coco kind of shared that with the world and she didn't play her best tennis early in Paris. She got better as the tournament went on, but she had that belief inside her and that definitely helped her at the end there in that tight final. What kind of pressures come with being a tennis prodigy and how has Coco, do you feel, how she lived up to the lofty expectations so far? Coco has been one of the most remarkable stories in our sport in the last couple of decades in terms of all of the pressure that was put on her. I first saw her play at 13 and walking away, I was, oh, she's going to win Grand Slams. Now that's just one person, but when everyone as a whole is saying that about you at such a young age, it can put an amazing amount of pressure on just the kid, how she's been able to handle it all and kind of navigate this life. Nothing has changed about her. Parents have done a remarkable job. You hear Coco in interviews, you see her after losses. It's not an easy position to be in and yet she wears it so well and how Coco is still walking around at 21 and how she conducts her business, how she conducts herself both on and off the court. You won't find anyone who works around tennis tournament that has one negative thing to say about her. I think that goes a long way with how she treats those people, not only that are helping her, but are just helping the sport and helping the tournament. I'm a huge fan of hers and how she is going to win more Grand Slams when all is said and done, I think is going to be a huge part of her story.
