Hey, Arthur and Bianca, hundreds of voters attended the forum in Flushing, eager to listen to both Mamdani and Cuomo sharing their views on the city's future with them as mayor. Now Metro IAF New York, an interfaith, multiracial power network, hosted the forum. New York nominee Zoran Mamdani used his platform to remind those voters of who he is. He's been taking meetings with them since early this summer, but he shared his eagerness to work with the group earlier. Now former Governor Andrew Cuomo touted his experience reminding voters of his history in office, arguing he's more prepared to take over at City Hall. And Metro IAF asked both candidates to commit to their agenda starting on day one should they be elected mayor. Now that agenda includes these four objectives. One, to build 100% affordable housing, 50,000 units every year, allocating $2.75 billion in February's budget. Two, to fix NYCHA for half a million New Yorkers who called public housing home. And three, to address the city's mental health crisis, establishing crisis stabilization centers for every borough. And lastly, to act on the community issues like safety, transportation, and sanitation needs. What do you think the front runners would ask if they develop concrete steps to ensure all New Yorkers feel safe and harm from harassment? We have to understand that our safety is bound together. And so I will be a mayor not just for the New Yorkers who voted for me in June or who will vote for me in November, I'll be a mayor for every single New Yorker. I look forward to that meeting that we have so we can fulfill this commitment for every New Yorker, for Jewish New Yorkers, for immigrant New Yorkers, and for anyone who calls the city home. When we have the largest Jewish population outside of Israel, it is imperative that the mayor be a unifier, not a divider, and that this city shows what commonality and tolerance and acceptance and respect for each other means. Safe to say, the audience was split. Who spoke to you and why? For my area, I feel that he has a lot of experience with this community in New York City. Donnie, I just think that he was very clear, and he seemed to be very engaged with the people, more so as more spirit-led and more interactive. I thought he had a great presentation. He's Mondawmin Moore. I got a more genuine feeling from him. Yeah. Mondawmin. Now, interestingly, there was no room for jabs, since each candidate had their own allotted time on the platform, but we can't expect plenty of that coming up in the next debate scheduled for Wednesday. While the two federal candidates you saw were on the stage in Queens, Republican Curtis Lewa was in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, standing with residents outraged over the city's plan to put in a homeless shelter instead of building more affordable housing in their neighborhood. He took the time to blast his opponents. I will not let Zoran Mondawmin and the socialists come in and destroy everything that's gone into making this the greatest city in the world. And I'm not going to let Andrew Cuomo try to reinvent himself, because he is the architect of our destruction, and Zoran Mondawmin is his apprentice. For why they were there, the city's Department of Homeless Services responding to Fox 5 tonight about the proposed shelter, saying in part, this new shelter is for families with children, and DHS works diligently to ensure that new shelters are seamlessly integrated into the community.
