They advise reserving ER visits for severe symptoms such as trouble breathing, chest pain, or worsening conditions, especially as flu activity typically rises when people return to work and school after the holidays.

To their limits. Good morning. Las Vegas reporter Haley Gravitt spoke with an E. R. Doctor about what he's seeing on the front lines. Good morning, Haley. Good morning, Justin. If you feel like everyone around you is sick right now, doctors say that you're not wrong. They're seeing an uptick in flu cases. A lot of times those patients coming into the emergency room flooding those beds, and we actually even heard from Mountain View Hospital about how they're seeing a record number of cases right now for flu and respiratory virus cases. So at Mountain View Hospital, doctors say that the emergency room has been surging for weeks. They're seeing a large number of patients with flu and upper respiratory symptoms on top of an already heavy patient load. Doctors say this is one of the busiest stretches that they've seen, including a record breaking day right after Christmas, with more than 300 patients in the E. R. In a single day, they say the flu is a major driver of the surge, especially this time of year. Matt Mountain View. You know, we're a very big emergency department. We have a 81 bed E. R. For the last two weeks, we've really been surging with, you know, a lot of patients just in general. Mountain View's been around since 1996. We set an all time record. We saw 318 patients in the E. R. Shadowing our purpose previous record. Um, and again, although it's a lot of flu and respiratory things, it just seems to be we're just seeing a lot of patients period. So doctors say with E. R. Is already insanely busy. People with mild flu symptoms should consider other options. First, they recommend telehealth visits or urgent care offices for things like fever, cough and body aches, reserving the emergency room for more serious symptoms. You should go to the E. R. If you have trouble breathing, chest pain or your symptoms are only getting worse. And doctors do say that flu activity typically picks up around this time of year when people are going back to school and back to work. So it's really an important time to monitor those symptoms.
