Authorities say that all the bodies have been recovered. Goa is a small state on India's western coast and a popular tourist spot, attracting millions of visitors per year. The state's government has ordered an inquiry into the incident and there will be a fire safety audit at similar venues. It's a tragic incident that never should have happened. The business was operating without proper permission and that negligence led to the fire. The hotel staff and three or four tourists died from suffocation. Fires like this one are not uncommon in India. Over the years several blazes have claimed lives. In May 17 people were killed in a fire in Hyderabad, 15 died in a fire a month before that, while last year 24 lost their lives in a packed amusement park which went up in flames in Gujarat.
