Faced with the dilemma of distancing themselves or continuing to ally themselves with the center-right group, even having to make some concessions whenever it allied itself to the far-right, the Greens chose the first hypothesis. At the start of this second day of congress in Lisbon, the co-presidents of the European Greens accused the PPE of crossing a red line whenever they extend their hand to the far-right, namely to pass anti-immigration legislation, undermining democratic principles and social rights.
