A cold front is on the way with rain later this week, but for now dry conditions are dominating the forecast across the Northeast.

The Northeast region is experiencing an extended period of dry weather, with temperatures generally in the 60s and 70s during the day and dropping to the 40s and 50s overnight. While isolated showers have occurred in parts of upstate New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire, significant rainfall remains concentrated further south in Kentucky and Tennessee, where flooding concerns have been noted.

Forecasts indicate that the dry spell will persist for much of the Northeast, with a brief warm-up expected before a cold front moves through the area. This front is anticipated to bring a noticeable drop in temperatures and the next significant chance of rain for the region.

Dry spell deepens across the Northeast

So when we say that we're getting that taste of October, that's exactly what we're talking about, and that's exactly what it's gonna feel like here for some areas. But overall, that nice stretch of weather we had over the weekend continued yesterday, continued today across the Northeast, and it's even gonna continue for some areas into tomorrow. Here's a look at current temperatures. Widespread in the 70s, we now have some coastal areas dipping into the 60s, including Portland and Boston right there at 70 degrees in New York City. So overall, this nice afternoon is going to turn into a relatively nice evening as well here across this region. Winds have come down for the most part. We had some stronger winds there in Boston, but now everything's starting to calm down here as we head into the evening and about to head into a sunset here in about the next 30 minutes to an hour. So winds have come down, temperatures have come down, even the rain chances for some areas have come down as well. Still some pretty good rainfall there across Western New York, some isolated showers across upstate New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire, but most of the heavy rainfall continues there across parts of Kentucky, and in Tennessee. We'll see some flooding concerns down there as we head into this evening that we'll keep you up to date on. Temperature wise here as we head into tonight, we will see some chilly conditions, overnight lows primarily a mix of 50s and 60s, but we will see some 40s and anywhere you see blue on this map, that's where we are forecasting overnight lows to dip into the 40s. So this is gonna be a chilly start here for your Wednesday morning, but Wednesday afternoon for the most part looks like the forecast is going to cooperate. It's gonna be a pretty nice day tomorrow. So here's the overall setup. Dry conditions continue to dominate the forecast across the Northeast, but look off to the Southwest. More showers, more storms across Southern Ohio, Indiana, parts of West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, those areas. Look at this cold front sweeping its way across the Great Lakes. So Green Bay, take a look at the highs we're tracking here for tomorrow. Green Bay only 66 degrees. We're actually gonna see more 80s in the forecast across the Northeast Wednesday afternoon. So it's actually gonna be warmer tomorrow than what I was tracking today, but everything's gonna change here as that cold front sweeps its way across the region, and that's what's gonna bring our next good chance of rain here across parts of the Northeast.
