Severe storms will threaten outdoor plans across parts of the mid-Atlantic and Northeast on Sunday. Damaging winds, large hail and the possibility of a brief tornado will be possible. Heavy rain could lead to the threat of flash flooding in some locations.

A line of severe weather is moving through the northeastern United States, affecting areas from Cleveland and Pittsburgh to Charleston, West Virginia, and upstate New York. Heavy rain is expected to impact cities such as Philadelphia and Boston, with rainfall totals reaching one to two inches in some locations. 

Gusty winds accompanying the rain are likely to cause travel disruptions, particularly during the morning commute and into lunchtime in affected cities. While the rainfall is beneficial for areas experiencing dry conditions, the strong winds and heavy precipitation may create hazardous situations for residents and travelers.

And as you can see, that rain is still going to be kind of pestering us here in the Boston area with some gusty winds and some very heavy rain by lunchtime on your Monday. That all pushes out. Then we await the next system to move on in. So the rainfall is going to be one to two inches in some spots, Reynolds, where we do need it. We've got a lot of dry conditions, even the red showing extreme. But I just want to point this out, Reynolds, with all the gusty winds, you know, this is going to wreak havoc on travel, not just today, but even getting into our Monday with those very strong gusts.
