Former President Donald Trump will not have to come up with a $454 million bond on Monday after all, a New York appeals court ruled. The court gave Trump ten days to come up with a $175 million bond to satisfy the judgment in the civil fraud case.

Former President Donald Trump was granted a reprieve by a New York appeals court regarding a significant financial obligation. Initially, Trump faced a mandate to secure a $454 million bond by a specific deadline. However, the court's ruling has altered these terms substantially. 

The appeals court decided to give Trump an extension, allowing him ten days from the ruling to arrange a $175 million bond. This adjustment comes in the context of satisfying a judgment in a civil fraud case against him. The reduction in the bond amount from the original $454 million to $175 million significantly eases the financial burden imposed on Trump by the court's earlier decision.

This is really a lifeline for the former president because up until this ruling that came down in the last, what, 15, 20 minutes, he was going to have to put up a bond of more than $450 million by 5 PM today, which is a ton of money. $175 is still a lot of money, of course, but when you think of $450 million, his attorneys last week had said he was having a difficult time getting that money together, that they had gone to 30 underwriters and they weren't able to secure the funding. So this, it appears to be a much more manageable situation for the former president today when it relates to this case, which for those who have been following all the different legal developments surrounding Donald Trump, this is the case where a judge found that he fraudulently inflated his wealth and then used that to get better loan terms for his business. Now, if he was unable to put forward that bond amount of money up until this judgment came in, that's when the attorney general here in the state of New York potentially could have started seizing his properties. Places like where we are right now, this is 40 Wall Street, a building right in the heart of the financial district of New York, places like Trump Tower, some of the properties that he has in Westchester County, north of New York, all of those would have been in play. But here we go, $175 million within 10 days. That is the lifeline the former president has been handed by an appeals court here in New York this morning.
