Zach Zarembinski and Isabel Richard, both survivors of severe medical emergencies as teenagers, have announced their engagement in St Paul, Minnesota. The couple first crossed paths at Saint Paul Regions Hospital in 2018, where Zach was treated after collapsing on a football field and Isabel was admitted following a serious car accident.

Both spent significant time in comas and faced uncertain recoveries, but eventually met again six years later and formed a relationship. Their engagement marks a new chapter in their lives, which began at the very hospital where their lives were saved.

This is where your lives were saved. In 2018, Zach collapsed on his high school football field as his mom Tracy watched in horror as an EMT. I just I knew this is not good. He was rushed to Saint Paul Regions Hospital nine days later. It was Isabel's mom Esther, who learned her daughter was in a devastating car crash and rushed to the same hospital. I said, tell me if my daughter's alive. Tell me if she's dead. She literally looked like an angel just laying there. She had shards of glass in her hair still and she was unconscious. Isabel lay in a coma for two and a half months. Their messaging to us was she might never walk again. She may never talk again, but her mom found hope when Zach awoke from his coma. Zach is a living breathing miracle, just like Isabel. When Isabel finally awoke, his mom came to meet her, but six years passed before they would meet again with Zach suggesting a family dinner. A month later they were official. It was love. I just really enjoy how every day you wake up with a smile. And if you can't even wake up with a smile, you you wake up with a positive attitude. Yes, and I would say the same for you. Like I know that some days are really hard for you and another just keep pushing through say God is good at this very spot where their lives their life together is just beginning.
