We are tracking the chance for accumulating snow across the Southeast this weekend. Details are still uncertain, but it all depends on timing and if there is enough moisture around when the cold air is in place.

Weather forecasts suggest that a coastal low may bring precipitation to the southeastern United States over the weekend. European and GFS models differ on the timing and amount of moisture, but both indicate the possibility of snow in areas such as Savannah, Charleston, and the Outer Banks, with up to an inch possible, mainly on grassy surfaces.

The main period of concern is from Friday night through Sunday, with snow more likely in the Appalachian Mountains and a chance for flakes in lower elevations and coastal regions. Residents in affected areas are advised to monitor updates as the forecast develops.

tomorrow through Sunday, European models where we're going to start because you could see some more precipitation up in the mountains of Appalachia. All right. But then things start to get interesting as to maybe some of the lower areas seeing some snow and where exactly that is is still a bit of a question mark. But the European model has been pretty good at showing these coastal locations, Savannah, Charleston, South Carolina, the outer banks of North Carolina with maybe, you know, some flakes that, you know, maybe not quite an inch, but some areas could maybe pick up an inch, especially on grassy surfaces. And then the GFS is like, no, I see moisture coming in way before that, so we're gonna see a whole bunch more. And I'm like, okay, well, I see that you're looking at the cold air that's present, right? You've got this upper level disturbance coming back in, and so ultimately we're kind of seeing that tail end that Jim was just talking about right there that could ultimately kick up more of that moisture. But the big question is, when does that moisture come through and where exactly does it fall? So again, here's the overall European model. We start off with some liquid precipitation on Saturday morning, Friday night into Saturday morning. That pushes east. Meanwhile, snow up in the mountains. There's that tail end that Jim was talking about as it's kicking through. And as we work our way through Sunday, could cold air filtering on the backside of that to create some flakes in the Piedmont region in the coastal areas of these communities down here along the southeast. So again, Steph, Saturday into Sunday is gonna be when all this takes place and something to definitely watch.
