Data shares were a standout, up nearly 3% on news it would start selling ads on its WhatsApp messaging platform, while more defensive health care and consumer staple stocks retreated on the day. While the market continues to show resilience, a few tests lie ahead for the rally that has carried the S&P higher by 25% since early April. The Federal Reserve will offer its outlook for interest rates and inflation on Wednesday, likely holding to a wait-and-see approach as the ultimate tariff levels and economic response remain huge open questions.
