A major breakthrough in the search for missing Philadelphia woman Kada Scott prompted the discovery of human remains behind a former school Saturday morning, as prosecutors prepare to update the case against the man charged in her disappearance.

Philadelphia police discovered human remains behind the abandoned Ada Lewis Middle School in the East Germantown neighborhood. The search was prompted by an anonymous tip related to the disappearance of 23-year-old Kata Scott, who has been missing since she was last seen at her workplace.

While the remains have not yet been formally identified, authorities confirmed they belong to a female. Police have arrested and charged 21-year-old Keon King in connection with Scott's kidnapping and a previous kidnapping case. The medical examiner's office will determine the identity of the remains, and Scott's family has been informed of the discovery.

When we begin to go back into that area where we will locate a shallow after being able to remove some of the debris back there. Able to locate the body of a human being. The discovery comes after police searched the area earlier in the week finding evidence outside of the abandoned school showing Scott had been there. It definitely is a gut punch. And as you had mentioned where they found those human remains was right behind the Ada Lewis Middle School and you can see over here to my left hand side that there is law enforcement presence because this is still a very active investigation. Now police say they were given an anonymous tip yesterday that led them back to Ada Lewis Middle School, a place they were searching recently for missing 23 year old Kata Scott. Scott has been missing since October 4th, last seen at her senior living facility job in Chestnut Hill. Police have arrested and charged 21 year old Keon King in connection with Scott's kidnapping and for a previous kidnapping of a woman. Earlier this year, right now authorities have not identified the remains, but say it is a female body. We are not going to confirm at this point that it is Miss Kata Scott because that has to be done by the medical examiner's office, but we have been in communication with her family as to this process and in the fact that we have recovered a human being. Yeah, and China, even though the remains have not been identified, this is really a gut punch to a lot of those within the community. Those that are members of Kata Scott's family as well. Just hearing this news. But as police had mentioned, there are still some formalities that they have to do before officially confirming whether this is Kata or not, Chana. Just devastating.
