The update also adds new tasks, tips, and shopping options to further enrich the player experience.

Version 3.0 brings new content and features to explore, as you build your island and complete more tasks for everyone's favorite Tanooki capitalist, Tom Nook. Here are the biggest changes in Animal Crossing New Horizons update 3.0, available now on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. If you're a longtime New Horizons player, your island is likely far enough along to get Isabelle's surprise announcement, a new hotel on the pier. Cap'n's family hotel introduces more decorating gameplay, similar to the Happy Home Paradise DLC, and lets tourists roam the island. The location of the hotel depends on where the pier is in your island layout, but if you're like me and it's been a while since you abandoned your villagers, simply open up the map to find it. When you enter, Tom Nook will immediately talk your ear off about a new opportunity to help out the Cap'ns with getting the hotel ready for visitors. Speak with Leilani at the front desk to get started with decorating guest rooms by theme. Advancing through these starting tasks opens up more areas like Graham's souvenir shop with exclusive items for purchase, and hotel outfits for guests to borrow. When the hotel is finally ready to open, you'll see tourists around the island. You'll be able to decorate two rooms per day as the hotel gets up and running. After decorating eight rooms, you'll unlock the VIP room on Day 5, where you can invite special amiibo guests to see your favorite characters. After you exit the hotel for the first time, Tom Nook is waiting outside to give you more requests. He wants to spread the word about your island through DIY branding. In exchange for crafting DIY items, you'll receive hotel tickets to spend at Graham's souvenir shop. There's a box on the pier that has a list of DIY requests for you to fulfill. The DIY Recipes app now includes a page where you can check hotel DIY requests as you progress through the game. This information is also available in the DIY Bench Crafting menu. To make your crafting more convenient, place a DIY bench on the pier next to the request box. With this update, you'll be able to use home storage items as DIY materials at the bench. As you wander around your island, you may run into a new yet familiar character, Resetti. Typically, you would only see him if you forgot to save before exiting Animal Crossing or on Communication Error screens, but now he is available for Resetti's Reset service. This allows you to remove items, custom designs, and flowers from a specific area or your entire island. Speak to Resetti to learn about his services. During your initial conversation, he'll reveal that he's actually been there the whole time, running the rescue service. Your first reset is free, but future resets require a day rate cost of 60,000 bells. According to the previous Nintendo collaborations, this update includes LEGO items in Nook Shopping, including everything you need to make a LEGO-themed room in your house, and Nintendo retro toys and classic game systems at the Hotel Souvenir Shop. If you have a Nintendo Switch Online membership, you can even play a game on each classic system. Amiibo accessories from The Legend of Zelda and Splatoon series can unlock new characters and items. To purchase the items, head to Nook Stop, select Invite a Camper, and scan any compatible Amiibo. You'll unlock the ability to purchase special themed items from the Nook Shopping Promotion Catalog. This is how you can bring your favorite fandoms together for a fun crossover. With a Nintendo Switch Online membership, you can create up to three custom Slumber Islands. Take a slumber to enter Luna's Dream World, terraform and customize the island of your dreams in collaboration with friends and family. Choose a small, medium, or large island, change the time of day or weather, invite villagers, and decorate with all your unlocked items. Version 3.0 includes some fantastic quality-of-life improvements for shopping, storage, and crafting. Items obtained by linking with Animal Crossing Pocket Camp can now always be ordered from Nook Shopping. Additionally, Super Mario Bros. items can now be ordered from Nook Shopping without linking to a Nintendo account. You can now purchase up to 50 customization kits at once from Nook's Cranny. Home storage can be increased to a maximum of 9,000 items and can now store trees, shrubs, and flowers. Save time at the DIY bench! It's now possible to craft up to 10 items at once if you have enough materials. Aside from the major new features, there are several small updates added in Version 3.0. Here are some notable ones. You can make your character do a little hop and sidestep into an open adjacent space. While outdoors on an island, hold down the L button to move while facing the same direction. This is especially helpful if you want to put yourself between a rock and an item to get 8 perfect hits. Tap L to have your character do a cute hop and hold a direction to have them face north, east, south, or west. When changing the tune at Resident Services, Isabelle will now suggest recommended melodies, including the original island tune. When changing the island flag at Resident Services, you can now revert it to the original design from when the island was created. You can now ask Leif to remove weeds when there are 30 or more weeds on your island, either on Harv's island or during his visits. The fee for asking Leif to remove weeds has been reduced. New tips have been added to the Island Life 101 app. And additional Nook Miles tasks have been added alongside the new features.
