I was just thinking We talked to you around the super bowl and we were like, oh It's the saddest time of the year to say goodbye And here we are back in it. Uh, you can't say we don't have some thrillers to start the season That's for sure last night was a stunning Comeback by the buffalo bills. It looked like the ravens Had that game sewn up and just watching josh allen and the bills it makes you wonder if this isn't the year for buffalo We we could very well see a bill's, uh, evil super bowl and man the packers looked really good yesterday that um that micah parsons edition Um, they played extremely well. They dominated the lions Who were one of the great teams last year? So Pretty exciting, uh, a lot of the teams that played well last year Got off to a good start with wins by the commanders the packers the eagles in the afc the bills Although the chiefs who were in the super bowl, they stumbled against the chargers So they'll look to bounce back, uh in a super bowl rematch already Sunday, what a what a game that's going to be the kansas city chiefs and the philadelphia eagles That's a big one coming up. Yeah, and I know the uh, the dolphins are on page one of the miami herald today Uh, it's not not easy and all all majors have met markets this morning I do wonder, you know, the uh, the phillies the philadelphia dallas game was delayed and already there's a little bit of Drama about whether or not some of these rain delays are going to result in maybe viewership metrics that disappoint Well, the nfl is always going to put uh player safety and fan safety first so, you know this time of year it seems like thunderstorms is uh, occasionally a factor, but I wouldn't lose too much sleep over that historically The nfl has played um through blizzards and You know fog and uh freezing cold weather, so I don't think we'll see many more Rain delays. They're really lightning delays as much as anything else. That should be a non-factor here But speaking of viewership, I mean obviously the nfl drew is is in a league of its own literally on tv ratings But the friday night streaming only game I think the chargers kansas city chiefs numbers were a little bit Lower than expected and I and I do wonder if the whole streaming move is overhyped Um, I think the streaming is uh is excellent it's great for fans that can Watch from their phone can watch for free in this case I think it may have been more about it being a friday night game This early in the year the nfl has not had many friday night games um, so I think it's more about Fans not really being up to speed the thursday game got a lot of attention the eagles and the cowboys game, I think that um It's it's more a byproduct of it being on friday night And not that it was on a streamer I do think streaming is the wave of the future. We're going to continue to see it I don't think youtube is going anywhere or netflix Apple all are going to be big players In the nfl amazon prime, of course every thursday night I don't think we'll see a change or the numbers be reflected in that I was wondering because I was wondering if there were any implications For for the league to preserve to do what they need to do to preserve and grow linear audiences without jumping ship Completely to streaming in their streaming future I I never see a world where it's all streaming. Um, I don't see that ever happening. We're still going to see games on nbc and cbs and fox and abc espn But streamers are here to stay and there will be a healthy mix As the nfl maximizes the economics. I mean just look last week When the giants sold 10 percent of their franchise For 1 billion dollars that's often the best indicator. I mean 10 percent for 1 billion You know that is not a controlling uh portion obviously and you that that equivocates to 15 billion dollars if it were Uh among a majority share. Let's say that they sold more than half of the team or all the team It's pretty exciting I I agree those evaluation those valuations are Astronomical and I think they're all realistically they would be even higher if there were deals in place for any of those teams
