CBS has revealed the nominations for the 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards, with major categories announced and several films and actors receiving recognition for the first time. Notable mentions include Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler for "Sinners," Chloe Zhao and Jessie Buckley for "Hamnet," and Teyana Taylor and Chase Infinity for "One Battle After Another." 

Industry experts highlighted the strong competition in categories such as Best Motion Picture and Best Actor, with established stars like Leonardo DiCaprio facing off against rising talents like Timothée Chalamet. The awards ceremony is set to be broadcast on CBS and streamed on Paramount Plus.

2026 Golden Globes nominations announced

It is Golden Globe nominees day about an hour ago CBS exclusively announced some of the biggest categories for the 83rd annual awards Actors Marlon Wayans and Skye P Marshall broke things down for my colleagues on CBS mornings We are a month away from what is going to be the largest award show in the world for both Film and television one that you can of course right watch right here on CBS and streaming on Paramount Plus Joining us this morning in the broadcast center is Fandango managing editor my friend Eric Davis good to see you All right, so who are your favorites for the best motion picture award out of the nominees? Well, we have two categories. We have drama and we have musical and comedy. I would say drama sinners I'm a big fan of sinners. It did really well this morning several nominations Michael B Jordan picking up his first ever Golden Globe nomination for best actor Ryan Coogler first ever best Iraq director nomination And so I love that film because it's a film that so many people saw, you know, critics love it audiences love it You know, it's the kind of film that you like to see show up big this time of year I also really like Hamnet the Chloe Zhao film Chloe also nominated for best director I think that films lead actress Jessie Buckley is a lock for that category Not a lot of people know Jessie Buckley's name. She's not a household name I think within a couple of months I guarantee it everybody's gonna know that were you surprised about wicked and John Chu I Was I was surprised about wicked for good not getting in there especially because Ariana and Cynthia are both nominated again Which is great to see I think John did such a tremendous job for both of those films He could have definitely deserved a nomination, but I do like that. Both original songs were nominated Yeah, you know Cynthia and Ariana each got a new song for this wicked for good So to see both of those songs nominated and both of them nominated. I still think it's a win for wicked for good All right, and you mentioned Cynthia and Ariana I sort of feel like they have they might have the lock on this right or who else do you who's a dark horse for you? We haven't talked about one battle after another yeah, this is a film that led all Nominees this morning and I look at Tiana Taylor who picked up her first Golden Globe nominee She's gonna be up against Ariana Grande. And I I think it's a ferocious performance from Tiana And I love it, but Ariana I think has has a good chance because I think she's really strong in wicked for good But we'll see. I also love chase infinity. Yeah getting in there with her first ever nomination I think she's gonna be sort of a Cinderella story this season one battle after another is her first ever feature film So imagine getting nominated for Golden Globe your first movie, right? So I think that's a I think chase infinity is a really cool story. So let's talk about quickly about Timothee Chalamet He was snubbed last year for a complete unknown. He's in this year. Where do you see that battle shaping up in that category? Yeah, so he's nominated for a film called Marty Supreme. It's not inside. I mean that Christmas But it's my second favorite film of the year next to one battle. Oh snap. Okay, and it's like Leo versus it's Leo Yeah, it's it's like old-school Hollywood legend Leo versus new school Hollywood legend in Timothy. So it's really great I think Chalamet get I give him the edge here because he's never won a Golden Globe. Okay, I'll be watching Eric Davis always great to have you my friend. Thank you very much.
