Amazon Prime Day 2025 has been extended to a four-day event, featuring major deals for Prime subscribers on a variety of merchandise. The sale includes daily-themed product drops, limited-time offers from popular brands, and special promotions for students, such as six months of free Prime membership and additional discounts.

Consumer savings expert Andrea Woroch recommends focusing on Amazon's own brands, especially electronics like Echo devices and Fire tablets, which tend to have the deepest discounts. Shoppers are also advised to compare prices with other retailers, as competitors are holding their own sales. Clothing, uniforms, and some toys are highlighted as categories with notable savings, and customers are encouraged to stock up on everyday essentials if deals are available.

What to know ahead of Amazon Prime Day

All right. Did you know this? Tomorrow marks the beginning of Amazon Prime Day. But it's not a single day or even two. Amazon has expanded its annual sale for Prime subscribers to four days. The company says its sellers sold more than 200 million items during last year's event. Consumer savings expert Andrea Warrock joins us now to talk about this. So I guess it's Amazon Prime Week. Happy Amazon Prime Week to you. What changes should—so what changes should shoppers expect this year? Some of us only ever accidentally hear about Prime Day in the first place. So what should we expect? Well, obviously, you know, and you just mentioned, it's longer than ever, four full days of sales. Amazon's also trying to get you back to the sale during that extended amount of time by doing daily-themed drops on big-ticket items as well as everyday goods. You're looking at limited-time offers from popular brands, and those will drop every day starting at midnight. And, you know, they only last until supplies run out. So you don't want to miss out if it's something on your list. They also have a deal for young adults. This is replacing their student discount. They're offering six months of Prime for free to students, with the subsequent 50 percent off and 10 percent cash back on select categories. And then, of course, we know competitors are hosting their own sales during this time, also extending their discounts. So it is equally important to still compare prices with other stores so you don't miss out on a better deal elsewhere. Yes, very smart. And I want you to tell us more about specific products or items that viewers should look for. One thing I always notice when it comes to electronics—let's say you want to get a big TV—places that put deep discounts on them typically are selling lower-quality models. So that's the model number. But what else should people either aim for or avoid? Yeah, so you want to focus on Amazon's own brands. Those are going to see the biggest discounts, especially with their electronics category products, like the Echo devices, Fire TV devices, Kindle e-readers, Fire tablets. I already saw early Prime Day deals, so that's another thing you could start shopping today. There was 60% off the Amazon Fire 7 Kids tablet. There was 63% off the Amazon Echo frame. 40% off 55-inch Smart TV, Fire TV. And then also clothing. We know clothing is impacted by tariffs, so a lot of people are looking at this category. So lots of sales from Amazon Essentials brand, as well as popular name brands. 50% off select Levi's apparel, for instance. So that could be something that you add to your list. Uniforms. We will see sales on uniforms, helping parents get kids ready for school. Now, toys are typically a category I would say wait to buy, but because we know tariffs are going to be impacting those prices later in the year ahead of the holidays, you might want to pick up a few gifts now. I saw $10 off Barbie doll sets, 48% off Hot Wheels toy cars and trucks. So those are the kinds of things you want to save. And then also anything that you use on a daily basis that you buy from Amazon. Check your recent orders. Look at your subscribe and save.
