Recent weather in the Northeast has included lingering snow in the Adirondacks, Green and White Mountains, and parts of Pennsylvania, with temperatures ranging from the 20s and 30s in northern areas to the upper 50s farther south. Snow cover remains in several regions, but a low-impact storm system is forecast to bring drier conditions and warmer temperatures, especially in southern areas.

Rain and snow showers are expected to diminish as the week progresses, with a rain and snow mix possible in interior regions and rain forecast for areas around Pittsburgh on Saturday. An icy mix may occur in higher elevations before transitioning to rain later in the weekend.

Warmer, less snowy conditions returning to the Northeast

We still have some snow falling in areas around the Adirondacks and up into the green and white mountains, even parts of the Berkshire, seeing a couple of flakes here and there and a little bit of lingering cold air in the Pennsylvania Wilds, the northern part of the area around the Allegheny Plateau up into Cattaraugus, Allegheny counties in New York into parts of Cameron, southern Tioga and Potter and eastern Elk counties of Pennsylvania. A little bit of leftover flakes there, but the next system is going to scoot a little farther east and northeast, primarily a Canadian storm that just kind of clips areas east and north of Buffalo. As we take a look at the current temps, it's still chilly across the northeast. Some of us are down in the thirties and twenties, even into the highest elevations between some of those cities, 33 up in Bagger, Maine, but other areas to the south, much warmer, 57 in D. C. And we're gonna be moving in the right direction here. But snow cover this morning. If you look closely, still a couple of pockets in the maroon there in the Adirondack or into the area around the upper peninsula of Michigan and also in northern Indiana. The lake affects snow bands there, however, those areas back on Monday, so over a foot of snow there this morning and then up into the Green Mountains and also the northwestern part of Pennsylvania. Pretty decent snow cover. But this next storm system scoots through tomorrow, kind of a lower impact event. In fact, we're gonna stay dry down at Foxborough in the evening because of that downsloping wind. But that wind 14 mile per hour west northwest wind is driving the Accuweather real field temperature, among other weather factors, all the way down into the mid twenties by the end of the game. So bundle up. It's gonna be a cold one there for that AFC East matchup, and we're dealing with some lingering rain showers with the help of Lake Ontario for Friday. These are gonna be fizzling as they get closer to the coastal plain, but still pretty numerous. Kind of a rain snow mix for some in the interior here and there. And then Saturday rain rolls in type areas around Pittsburgh, impacting that Notre Dame pit game. The final thing just wanted to briefly mention was that icy mix farther northeast up into the high ground with some pre existing cold air before it changed over to rain later into the weekend.
