Walz said Hoffman, hit by nine bullets, was heading for recovery after emerging from his last surgery. Police said Bolter fled on foot when they confronted him at the Hortman home, leaving behind a vehicle that resembled a police SUV. According to a Hennepin County criminal complaint unsealed on Sunday, a police search of Bolter's SUV turned up three AK-47 assault rifles, a 9mm handgun, and a list of other public officials and their addresses. The complaint also showed that Bolter has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder as well as two counts of second-degree attempted murder. Online postings and public records reviewed by Reuters showed that Bolter has links to evangelical ministries and claimed to be a security expert with experience in the Gaza Strip and Africa. The killings are the latest episode of high-profile political violence in the U.S. Recent incidents include an attempted assassination on Donald Trump last year and an arson attack at Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro's house in April.
