Louisiana authorities captured on Friday one of the 10 men who escaped from a New Orleans jail six weeks ago and who police say released videos on social media while still on the run.

Louisiana State Police have recaptured nine out of ten inmates who escaped from Orleans Parish Prison. The latest arrest was made when Antoine Massey was taken into custody at his home. The inmates, aged between 19 and 42, were facing charges ranging from domestic abuse and motor vehicle theft to murder. The escape was facilitated by a faulty cell door and poor prison infrastructure, allowing the group to remove a toilet, crawl through a wall, and scale a barbed wire fence. Authorities have launched a manhunt that has spanned several locations, including other parts of Louisiana and Texas. A $50,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the capture of the remaining fugitive, Derek Groves. At least 16 people have been arrested for allegedly assisting in the escape.

Nine down and one to go, the Louisiana State Police have captured most of the escaped inmates from Orleans Parish Prison, the latest Antoine Massey, who was peacefully walked out of his own home and taken into custody in New Orleans on Friday. The inmate had been facing charges of domestic abuse, motor vehicle theft and parole violation. Police have put out a reward of $50,000 to find the last fugitive, Derek Groves, encouraging anyone with information to contact them. We still have one more. We have Groves and so Groves knows that we are going to capture you. You will be taken into custody but you still have the option to peacefully turn yourself in and we will make an appeal to you to do so. The group of inmates, ranging from 19 years old to 42, face a variety of charges including aggravated assault, domestic abuse, battery and murder. They had yanked open a faulty cell door, removed a toilet, then crawled through a hole in the wall behind it and scaled a barbed wire fence before running out of the facility. The jailbreak, which police say occurred shortly after midnight, went unnoticed for hours until a routine headcount at 8.30am when the prisoners were found missing. Authorities launched a six-week manhunt, catching them in various places from New Orleans' famous French Quarter to other parts of the state of Louisiana and some even in Texas. The Orleans Paris Sheriff, who oversees the prison where 1,400 people are being held, has largely blamed the jailbreak on the facility's poor infrastructure and a lack of renovation made to it. At least 16 people have also been arrested by authorities accused of helping the prisoners escape.
