According to the bill’s opponents, millions of vulnerable Americans could lose their health coverage. Despite these concerns, Republican leaders are pushing for party unity, with Trump personally lobbying for its passage.

The controversial package funds many of the promises he made to voters, including extending tax cuts for middle and high-income households, extending and expanding tax cuts for corporations, increases in military and immigration spending, new funding to build more facilities like the so-called Alligator Alcatraz Immigration Detention Center that just opened in the Florida Everglades. The one big beautiful bill reverses four years of Biden's open border policies with a generational investment in border security. But the bill adds trillions of dollars to the national debt. There are major social program cuts targeting food assistance and health care. 17 million Americans, some of the most vulnerable, would lose their health insurance. As a result, people are going to die connected to this one big ugly bill. Some Republicans argue too many able-bodied adults get assistance when they should instead get a job. We don't pay people in this country to be lazy. The Republican House Speaker pleading for party unity to get this across the line. You know it's a good piece of legislation because every single Democrat hates it and the reason they hate it is because this bill actually empowers Americans. Trump is personally lobbying Republican holdouts and threatening those who refuse to support him. The bill is passed by the 4th of July, a self-imposed deadline he hopes will help speed things up.
