U.S. President Donald Trump has spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin and is planning a call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The White House has not yet released a detailed readout of the conversation with Putin, but Trump has previously stated his intention to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine quickly, a goal that has not yet been achieved.

The leaders are expected to discuss the ongoing war in Ukraine, with the possibility of addressing other international matters such as the situation in the Middle East and trade tariffs. Previous conversations between these leaders have not resulted in a lasting peace, and the outcome of the latest discussions remains to be seen.

He said he could get it done. It hasn't been quite so easy. We're also aware that you have some reporting on the president's call with President Putin. What do you know? Yeah, that's right. The president posted about this himself, saying that he was going to speak with President Putin of Russia at 10 a.m. We also have reporting from our own Margaret Brennan that he is set to speak with President Zelensky of Ukraine as well. There you see the president announcing this call on True Social. Oftentimes he will also give a readout of the call. We have yet to get that additional information from the White House. We'll, of course, bring it to you once we get it. But there's no shortage of things that these two world leaders have to talk about. Ending the war between Russia and Ukraine, the president has oftentimes talked about how he could end that war quickly. As you mentioned, it has not played out the way that he predicted. There have been several calls and, of course, in-person meetings between President Trump and President Zelensky, several calls with President Putin and President Trump. And they have yet to really bring about a lasting peace between those two nations. But there are, of course, other situations in the world that the two men could talk about. Previous calls, the two men have talked about the situation in the Middle East, notably that conflict between Israel and Iran. But I anticipate that the major focus of this call will certainly be ending that conflict, bringing about some type of cease-fire or peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. And then yet the big elephant in the room, and that is this phrase, easier said than done, whether it's striking deals on tariffs, as we are aware that there's a tariff deadline and reciprocal tariffs coming up, or ending the war in Ukraine, or solving the problem between Israel and Iran, it is easier said than done.
