From the streets of Kampala to the world stage! They’ve danced at the World Cup and wowed judges on America's Got Talent. They call themselves the “Ghetto Kids” - a dance troupe proving that talent can break barriers, and dreams can rise from the toughest of places.

The Ghetto Kids, a dance troupe formed by children from the slums of Kampala, Uganda, have gained international recognition through their performances around the world. Founded by Dauda Kavuma, a former street child, the group provides shelter, education, and opportunities for children who previously lived on the streets.

With over 65 children currently in their care, the Ghetto Kids have performed at major events such as Britain's Got Talent, America's Got Talent, and the World Cup. Their success has helped change public perceptions of street children in Uganda and has inspired many others to seek education and a better life.

They've just returned from a dance trip in Norway, one of many international tours they've been on since this trip began 11 years ago. Here they're practicing for their next gig. These are the ghetto kids, children from the slums of Kampala who've swapped life on the streets for the bright lights of the stage. When they got me, I wasn't even studying. I wasn't even know how to write my name. But then now I'm studying, I'm in senior one. They've paid for my school fees. Even what I'm wearing now, it's because of this group, our manager. I've travelled a lot. The group was founded by Dauda Kavuma himself, a former street child. Over the years, he's turned this troupe into an international sensation, collaborating with global music stars. You know, when we went for Britain's Got Talent, America's Got Talent, World Cup, and then there are quite many places that we visited, but people changed the way they perceived us. Uganda has an estimated 25,000 street children. The government has rehabilitation centres, but they're nowhere near enough. Kavuma takes care of 65 children and counting. They say, we have come and we want to go back to school. We want you to change our lives. And then there are many, you understand. It's not easy, but usually I have a way to talk to them and to give them hope that one time, one day, you also leave the street. On this day, the dancers are joining other children for a music festival in the city. So here they are just preparing for their performance. They will be performing in front of an audience. There will be other children from other schools who are also performing Ricky Banyumera, the youngest of the crew, is a true showstopper, giving it everything he's got.
