Trump unable to secure bond as legal troubles mount

Despite approaching about 30 companies, attorneys for former President Donald Trump said in a court filing that so far he has been unable to secure a bond to cover the 454 plus million dollar judgment against him. That indicates that he does not have enough cash on hand. So what's his recourse? Well, here are a few options. He could appeal to New York's highest court, sell assets to generate the cash he needs, or appeal to a wealthy benefactor for the money. Assuming that Attorney General Letitia James does not extend Monday's deadline, once it passes, she could start moving quickly to seize his properties to cover the judgment. That looming Monday deadline is far from the former president's only legal headache. His first criminal trial centered around hush money payments is scheduled to begin in mid-April. Yesterday, the judge in that case, Juan Merchan, made some key rulings ahead of the trial. He will allow the infamous Access Hollywood tape to be referenced, but not played. Merchan will also permit testimony from the former president's longtime fixer Michael Cohen, as well as porn star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal, both of whom alleged that he had affairs with them, which he denies. Merchan will also allow testimony from a former doorman who claims to have knowledge about the former president fathering a child out of wedlock. Daniels, McDougal, and the one-time doorman all claim to have been paid off to stay quiet. The former president has not stayed quiet as he campaigns again for the White House. He made these accusations about Democrats on a podcast hosted by Sebastian Gorka, one of his White House aides. I actually think they hate Israel. The former president was not done. Any Jewish person that votes for Democrats hates their religion, they hate everything about Israel, and they should be ashamed of themselves because Israel will be destroyed. Now to another of the criminal cases that the former president faces, this one, the one in Georgia. Yesterday, he, along with seven of his co-defendants in a court filing, told Judge Scott McAfee that they want to appeal his ruling from last week that keeps District Attorney Fonny Willis on that case. McAfee has to not only approve that request, but then the Georgia Court of Appeals has to agree to take up the case. So a couple steps before the former president and his co-defendants can appeal.

Prospects for a Gaza ceasefire appeared slim as Hamas reiterated its demand for an end to the war in exchange for the freeing of hostages, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu flatly ruled that out.
