The event took place in Grand Rapids, Michigan, drawing a crowd of around 12,000 supporters, with many more turned away due to capacity constraints. Security was heightened throughout the venue, with various police presences observed, including mounted patrols and rooftop surveillance.

This rally also marked the first public appearance of Trump's newly announced running mate, J.D. Vance. The crowd showed strong support for Vance, despite many not having extensive prior knowledge about him. Throughout the rally, the atmosphere was charged with a sense of determination and resilience.

Trump, now the official Republican nominee, emphasized the need to continue fighting for what he described as a "magnificent future" for the American people. The event featured an array of MAGA-themed merchandise, and attendees expressed their dedication to supporting Trump in the upcoming election.

Trump supporters are everywhere in Grand Rapids and police, on horseback, on rooftops. A former president, their president, narrowly missed an assassination attempt a week ago. And they are here for him, no matter what. The earth shook when he got shot because everybody felt it. Can you imagine what this country would be like without him? It's their first campaign event together as a two-man team, days after Trump named J.D. Vance as his running mate. But few in this crowd really know much about the man who could be the second most powerful person in the U.S. come January. Do you know much about J.D. Vance before this week? No, but I googled him a lot since then. We still don't know a lot about him, but what we do know, we really like. Donald Trump loves a big crowd. He certainly got one here. 12,000 packed into this arena, full to capacity. Many others turned away as he began to speak. We will never stop working to deliver a magnificent future for our people, and together we will fight, fight, fight, right? Back outside, a sea of MAGA red. Hats, T-shirts, even pizza deliveries. I'm buying this one. The merch makers embracing the assassination attempt. We're 3D printing a model of Donald Trump. And everywhere, that sense that this is a fight. They are determined to win it with him, for him, and go the extra mile. I've got an eight hour drive here and from, so it's going to be a heck of a long day. For Donald Trump, this is the start of a new chapter. One where he is now officially the Republican nominee. Nobody can challenge him for that anymore. And one where he has a VP running mate on the ticket with him. After this, they will go in their separate directions. So they can spread the MAGA message in their own way to their own people. They've not got to worry about voters like these. These people are already locked in. But in swing states like Michigan, there are still lots of undecided voters.
