An area of low pressure, designated Invest 93-L by the National Hurricane Center, continues to spin off the east coast of Florida. Invest 93-L will move west across Florida Tuesday, reaching the northern Gulf Wednesday.

Invest 93L, a low-pressure system designated by the National Hurricane Center, is currently positioned off the east coast of Florida and is moving westward across the state. Forecast models indicate that the system will reach the northern Gulf of Mexico, where conditions such as warm water temperatures may support further development. 

The probability of Invest 93L becoming a tropical depression has increased, with some models suggesting up to a 90% chance. However, wind shear in the Gulf may limit rapid intensification. Hurricane hunters are expected to investigate the system once it moves further inland, and meteorologists are closely watching its potential impacts along the I-10 corridor and Gulf Coast cities.

Tracking Invest 93L: Tropical development chances going up

Take a look at this invest now. And of course the odds are increasing. Remember if you were with us just yesterday morning, we were about a 30% chance of development over the next seven days. And we're saying, you know what? Once this thing slides into the Gulf, we could easily see this number go up because I mean, what's the track record of storms going into the Gulf and nothing happening, right? It's like not a thing. Meanwhile, the main part of the disturbance is still just off the space coast and it's moving westward. So you guys on this Atlantic side, definitely getting impacted, but we're gonna see storms all across the area throughout the day today. And then the movement, as we work our way into mid to late week, notice skirting along the Northern section of the Gulf where we have, as I mentioned, those really warm water temperatures. And not only that, we've got deep layer warm water as well. So that's gonna really help with that. Now, when we take a look at the shear component, yesterday we were watching a lot more shear kind of sitting off of Louisiana. A lot of that heavy stuff has shifted back towards Brownsville or the mouth of the Rio Grande here into the Gulf. But there is some of that out there to help limit the development process. That's actually a good thing. If we had no shear at all, I mean, this thing could ramp up really quick. So you kind of wanna see that if we want the storm to be a little bit more at bay. But either way you look at it, we've got a moisture surge for everybody with big rain along the I-10 corridor. Just taking a look at the chances for tropical depression from the European model, that red right there, boom, I goes all the way up to 90% chance of maybe becoming a tropical depression. Of course, that would give us that area of circulation. So right now it's just an invest. We do think that the hurricane hunters are gonna go out tomorrow to investigate this thing, but they gotta wait for a lot of it to kind of work its way over land. And then the models have it dancing all over the place. This is gonna be key as to, you know, if this thing is really going to ramp up or not, depending on what track it takes. Does it stay on land and kind of impact this I-10 corridor? Does it move back into the Gulf where it's got its fuel source? Something we will be watching closely after it traverses through Jacksonville. I do think we'll see impacts in Pensacola, Apalachicola, of course, Mobile Bay. All of you guys had a pretty nice weekend last week in an early week, but that is all gonna drastically change. And then notice as we work away into the late week, sitting right over the Big Easy, and that, of course, could cause its own set of problems.
