AccuWeather's Geoff Cornish breaks down the continued threat of tornadoes in Texas for Monday and the risk of severe weather across the South on Tuesday.

Severe thunderstorms have caused significant disruption in Houston and surrounding areas, with multiple tornadoes reported and confirmed by both residents and storm chasers. The National Weather Service is currently assessing the extent and causes of the storm damage, including whether it resulted from tornadoes or straight-line winds.

The storms have led to flash flooding, hail, and wind damage, particularly in Harris County and north of Dallas-Fort Worth. A tornado watch remains in effect for Houston and nearby regions, with further severe weather and travel disruptions expected as the storm system moves eastward toward Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia.

pretty amazing scenes here from the drone. Videography is just so cool to see, but it's not so cool if you have property in the area that may have taken on some damage from some of these thunderstorms. No, it's one of those situations. A lot of storm chaser, just resident video coming in of some of the funnel clouds from some of the warned tornadoes and even reported tornadoes at this point. But it's definitely not fun if you are in the path of any of these storms and they're having a few reports of damage again. These are going to be investigated by the Weather Service officials there in Houston as they head out to view some of the storm damage to determine exactly how bad it well, if it was caused by a rotating area of wind or if it was straight line but also the intensity. So as we take a look at some storm reports here, we've had some flash flooding, we've had some hail. There's a little hidden report there of wind damage up north of Dallas Fort Worth, but also the and there, if you look closely, there are actually a couple of different tornado reports kind of plotted on top of one another from a very specific geographical area in part of Harris County. And again, tornado watch continues specifically in Houston, Conroe up into areas around Lufkin Newton and up into areas around far western Louisiana. This officially runs until seven p.m. Central time this evening. The storms are out there. They've been producing a lot of lightning and very heavy rain. The frequency of severe and tornado warnings. We've seen actually more tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings out of this today has been a little more limited and fewer and farther between in recent hours. But we need to keep an eye out for potentially a few more spin ups to occur. So again, three reports of tornadoes among this batch from earlier today and the risk is still there. East texas into northern Louisiana, damaging wind and flash flooding are our main motivators in bumping a two out of four moderate risk on the Accuweather threat level index. Again, that's two out of four. But as we move forward tomorrow, here we are one p.m. Eastern noon central, still some storminess near northwest of New Orleans, up into central parts of Mississippi, northern Alabama. That all moves east. We're very concerned about travel impacts in Atlanta and is going to talk to us more about travel weather. But again, for this southern storm, the biggest impacts may come right here. Hartsfield Hartsfield Jackson Airport in Atlanta, which the travel officials say is the world's busiest airport. And again, it may be late evening storms, hopefully late enough that we missed the worst of the travel volume tomorrow. But there's still gonna be a lot of action in and out even after eight p.m. And that's the time frame that we're most concerned about. It's very warm out there down in Tampa, 82 beautiful weather there, but heading northwest were down in the mid fifties in parts of Arkansas. And as the true front moves farther east front, the front actually is lagging behind this trough where most of the thunderstorms will be found. So you're gonna notice the air gets really dry about maybe 8 to 10 hours after the storms exit. But in advance of the front, we got record highs, likely in Brownsville, Texas and in Macon, Georgia tomorrow, and we're gonna be close to records in Gainesville, Albany and Augusta. Eso again, more strong storms tomorrow. Here we're going with some risk from areas like southern Mississippi all the way up into northeast Tennessee and Wednesday. Still stormy, not a severe, though.
