I wanted to capture the sights, the sounds, the smells of a hardworking rock band on the road, but I got more. A lot more. This movie goes to 11. There's a fine line between stupid and clever. The mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap is heading back to theaters for its golden 41st anniversary. The idea is we want to get the public reintroduced to the film because we got a sequel coming out in September. Director and co-star Rob Reiner says he and his fellow filmmakers never imagined what the movie would become. Never in a million years did we think that that was going to happen. We, you know, for the first part, most people didn't even know it was a satire. They thought it was a real band. And, you know, the first screening we had in Dallas, they said, people came up to me and said, I don't understand. Why would you make a movie about a band that nobody's ever heard of and one that's so bad? Why don't you just make 10 louder and make 10 be the top number and make that a little louder? These go to 11. Reiner has this message for moviegoers. You want to watch a comedy with an audience. You want that shared experience. It's not the same as if you sit in your living room and you put it on pause and you go to the bathroom and you get some meat. And if you're interested in knowing what is the fine line between stupid and clever, then you go to the theater and you see.
